A common viral infection that affects the respiratory system is now affecting more than half of all Americans.
The virus has been linked to many types of respiratory infections, and many of them can be fatal.
The CDC reported Tuesday that about half of adults have at least one type of viral infection, such as the common cold or flu.
Other common viral infections are:• Bacterial meningitis, which is caused by bacteria in the airways that can cause inflammation and swelling of the airway, or in the lining of the nose, mouth, or throat.• Chlamydia trachomatis, which can cause painful swelling of a sore throat or sinus or lead to infections of the eyes and mouth.• Erythema multiforme, which causes skin rash that may become more severe if left untreated.• Acute viral meningococcal infection, also known as ASM, which results from the spread of bacteria that cause the disease, including E. coli and salmonella.
The virus that caused the common viral illness is the H1N1 pandemic, which was the first to be transmitted through air travel and has spread to more than 130 countries.
It was a pandemic for a few months, but has now spread to the U.S. and Europe.
