A local hospital said two of the three people killed were children.
Klein County Sheriff Scott Wainstein said the first person to be infected with the virus was a 14-year-old girl.
“The 14-yr-old was infected and is currently in a medically induced coma,” Wainsteins office said in a statement.
The second person who was infected died Wednesday.
The sheriff said the two other people who were in the house at the time of the outbreak were uninfected.
It was not immediately clear if any of the people infected were in foster care or if they were living with foster parents.
Local and state officials have been working on a vaccine for the virus, which has been linked to a rash of recent hospitalizations and other infections.
This outbreak comes as states including California, Texas, New York and Pennsylvania are considering a statewide ban on all vaccine imports.
